Having a veterinarian (like, oh, say, True Companions VetVan!) come to your home has many advantages to both you and your pet.

For you:

  1. Mobile veterinary care is ideal for pet owners with difficulty getting out -- whether due to mobility limitations, small children, or simply busy schedules.
  2. For families with multiple pets, it is much easier for the doctor to come to you rather than loading a bunch of pets into the car and transporting them to the clinic. It can also be more convenient (and less expensive) for you to have all your True Companions seen in one or two visits.
  3. Your children can go about their normal activities rather than trying to be entertained or to sit calmly (a tall order for some!) in a hospital.
  4. Accommodating schedules with evening and weekend appointments available.
  5. A relationship with a vet who knows you, your pet, and your home.
For your True Companions:
  1. Most pets will be far more relaxed for an exam and medical procedures in their own homes, reducing stress and anxiety.
  2. Pets who become anxious or sick in the car will certainly appreciate not having to travel -- and you'll appreciate not having to clean up the mess.
  3. Pets with a weak immune system, whether due to age (puppies and kittens or elderly pets) or illness, will be at less risk of being exposed to contagious diseases.
  4. Traveling is often more difficult for "senior" pets, who may have trouble getting in and out of the car and stumbling around in car seats. At home, they can rest easy during their exams and treatments.
  5. Behavior and anxiety issues occurring at home can be easier to assess and treat when observed first-hand and in the pet's normal environment, rather than being exaggerated or hidden by the stress and excitement of going to a hospital.
  6. Imagine how much more pleasant it would be for an arthritic, painful pet to relax in her favorite spot for a soothing acupuncture session!

I've known Dr. Raeyna for close to 15 years. She has been nothing but professional and compassionate with all the critters we've brought her way. I was so pleased when she started True Companions, as it's tough to bring four dogs to the vet at once. It usually requires two trips. S...
